How Often Should You Get a Chemical Peel?

No two people have the same skin, but many treatments adopt a one-size-fits-all technology. Our range of chemical peels lets us target your treatment toward your unique skin concerns. Chemical peels come in many different formulas that vary in intensity and the conditions they target.

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a skin-rejuvenating treatment that removes dull, damaged layers of skin. At Willow Aesthetics, we will choose one that meets your skin’s needs.

A chemical peel uses chemicals, typically acids, to separate and lift away dead and damaged cells. The depth of a peel depends on the strength of the chemicals, how long the peel stays on, and how many layers of the skin it removes.

How Often Should You Get a Chemical Peel?

Your Willow Aesthetics team will develop a schedule for your chemical peels based on your needs. A light chemical peel will address dullness, enlarged pores, and minor textural issues. Most people will have one of these peels every four to six weeks.

A medium peel can treat more significant aging and pigmentation problems. You can have one every few months. The VI Peel Precision Plus, our most popular peel, is medium-strength and targets pigmentation issues and sun damage. A deep peel can require up to 7 days of downtime.

Is There Any Downtime After a Chemical Peel?

Downtime from a chemical peel varies based on the intensity of the peel. Lighter peels typically require little to no downtime. Your skin may look flushed and feel sensitive for a few hours or days. A medium peel often results in a few days of redness and flaking to reveal healthy new skin.
